I once grew the “neck” pumpkins that are prized for pumpkin pies, and brewed a couple pumpkin ales with it. One I did with a friend and the other was the Zymurgy cover story from some brewer that made malty, “liquid pumpkin pie” beers. As you can see, these pumpkins look nothing like a Jack O’Lantern, the vines are quite large, as are the gourds, and pumpkin meat in the boil creates a lot of trub. But the beer was excellent and held up well in storage.
I’ve wanted to do a mead with the nectarines I grow, but that’s never happened.
